Introduction

This course is designed to help improve the workplace culture for occupational health and safety.

Its main purpose is to enable learners to understand the basic principles of risk assessment. This qualification will therefore give employees the ability to contribute to the process and act always to protect their own health and safety and that of others.

Suitable for: all employees.

By the end of the programme the student will be able to:

	explain what is meant by the term 'risk assessment' and give examples;
	explain how risk assessment can be used in the workplace;
	state the principles for risk assessment and apply these in a practical context;
	demonstrate a general understanding of the value and purposes of conducting a risk assessment and what employees can expect of such assessments;

	Main causes of accidents and ill health, and their implications for people in the workplace.
	Legal requirements for risk assessment.
	Principles of risk assessment .

Exam Format

Assessment is by means of a 30 question multiple choice paper held at the end of the course.
